Song of Badi- or what does transformation mean to you?

Just wanted to share with you some thoughts on the 8th track of “The Longing”: Song of Badi. This piece was written by a very talented and insightful Stephen Miller, himself a young man then, describing the process of transformation and change within one individual alone, which immediately affected his surroundings and the world. He uses the example the true story of a young man, named Badi and his life of courage and sacrifice. He recognizes his Beloved in the person of Baha’u’llah and every fiber of his being becomes a new creation. I was introduced to this song in my youth and it touched me deeply the moment I heard it. I wanted to sing it. Firstly to internalize this story of courage and encouragement for myself and secondly, to share it with anyone I would meet: we all have the power to affect change, to better ourselves and the world around us. Right now the whole world seems to be in turmoil wherever you look and as individuals we might feel torn about the recent watchword of change. On the one hand we welcome and look forward to change because we know that the world cannot continue on its path of selfishness and destruction. On the other hand we might be unsure about what change would entail and whether that change would be positive. Eckhart Tolles writes:“Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge.” In my album I have dedicated this song to my family in Iran and all my young Baha’i brothers and sisters, who despite daily persecution hold that space of a new world united in thought and spirit and action in their heart! May you soon be free to follow your dreams and fulfill your potential!!! Share...
