New music video release “True Lover”!

Posted by on May 8, 2012 in Music, Baha'i Faith | Comments Off on New music video release “True Lover”!

Hi, just letting you know that my new music video, titled “True Lover”, is out! You can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZJ0ka_1hZc The powerful words of this piece are taken from the writings of Baha’u’llah, the Founder of the Baha’i Faith and the beautiful music was written by Grant Hindin Miller (New Zealand)! The song was lovingly arranged by Daniel Rubin (Austria). The video was filmed in the gorgeous city of Budapest, Hungary, a country I was lucky to call my home for a year. It was filmed and edited by a very talented Nadji Hedjazi and thoughtfully directed by Ajang Farid (Hungary). I look at it as a meditation on mystical love, the journey to the true Beloved. Below you will find the text again and its translation into German. A Spanish and Hungarian translation will follow soon Enjoy and feel free to share! “O SON OF JUSTICE! Whither can a lover go but to the land of his beloved? And what seeker findeth rest away from his heart’s desire? To the true lover reunion is life, and separation is death. His breast is void of patience and his heart hath no peace. A myriad lives he would forsake to hasten to the abode of his beloved.” – Baha’u’llah “O SOHN DER GERECHTIGKEIT! Wohin kann ein Liebender gehen ausser ins Land seines Geliebten? Und welcher Suchende fände Ruhe fern der Sehnsucht seines Herzens. Für den aufrichtig Liebenden ist Vereinigung Leben und Trennung Tod. Seine Brust kennt keine Geduld, sein Herz keinen Frieden. Tausend Leben gäbe er hin, um zur Wohnstatt seines Geliebten zu eilen.”- Baha’u’llah Share...

Song of Badi- or what does transformation mean to you?

Posted by on Apr 17, 2012 in Music, Baha'i Faith | Comments Off on Song of Badi- or what does transformation mean to you?

Just wanted to share with you some thoughts on the 8th track of “The Longing”: Song of Badi. This piece was written by a very talented and insightful Stephen Miller, himself a young man then, describing the process of transformation and change within one individual alone, which immediately affected his surroundings and the world. He uses the example the true story of a young man, named Badi and his life of courage and sacrifice. He recognizes his Beloved in the person of Baha’u’llah and every fiber of his being becomes a new creation. I was introduced to this song in my youth and it touched me deeply the moment I heard it. I wanted to sing it. Firstly to internalize this story of courage and encouragement for myself and secondly, to share it with anyone I would meet: we all have the power to affect change, to better ourselves and the world around us. Right now the whole world seems to be in turmoil wherever you look and as individuals we might feel torn about the recent watchword of change. On the one hand we welcome and look forward to change because we know that the world cannot continue on its path of selfishness and destruction. On the other hand we might be unsure about what change would entail and whether that change would be positive. Eckhart Tolles writes:“Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge.” In my album I have dedicated this song to my family in Iran and all my young Baha’i brothers and sisters, who despite daily persecution hold that space of a new world united in thought and spirit and action in their heart! May you soon be free to follow your dreams and fulfill your potential!!! Share...

Thank you!!!

Dear friends, Thank you so much for all your support the last 30 or so days since my debut album “The Longing” was released!!! The Grand Canyon Conference www.grandcanyonbahai.org in Phoenix, Arizona was an amazing experience with 2600 people gathered from all over North America as well as places as far as New Zealand! The conference was all about community building and about how we all play our crucial roles in that process, as small and insignificant as we may feel at times. There were beautiful and dynamic presenters, as well as super-talented musicians from various musical traditions. It was a joy to experience them and to get to know many of YOU personally! I was able to contribute twice with my music during the course of the conference and on the last day our music video “Peace Is Light” that was filmed in Budapest, Hungary this summer by N. Hedjazi and A. Farid, was shown. Budapest was blessed by Abdu’l-Baha’s presence a hundred years ago … so fitting as the words of this piece are by Abdu’l-Baha! My next 2 events scheduled are: January 17th, 2012 Dr Martin Luther King Celebration, Town of Paradise Valley, Arizona March 17th, 2012 “Playing For Unity In Diversity Music Festival”, Tucson, Arizona Check this festival out at www.playingforunityindiversity.com Keep shining your light, Nasim Share...
